I am going back to the classroom next year!❤️‍🔥🥹

I started teaching in 2007 and quickly realized teaching was my true passion. I spent 11 years working at various schools- both private, public, and overseas in Cairo, Egypt. Through those years I have taught Pre-K, TK, K, 1st, 2nd, 4th, & 5th.

In my 3rd year of teaching I started @applesandabcs to share ideas and resources with teachers all over. Five years ago I had the opportunity to run @applesandabcs full time while I stayed at home with my kids. My time shifted from pouring into students to pouring into teachers. About a year ago, I felt this change inside me and I knew it was time to go back to the classroom. It was actually after presenting at my first @getyourteachon conference that I knew I was being called back to my first love- teaching the students. It has taken a year of praying and waiting to see if going back to the classroom would be what is best for me and my family.

I am THRILLED to announce that I will be teaching full time next year. The grade level announcement will need to wait until the end of August, but I can’t wait to share that with you soon. 🤗 I will still be present here online, and I would love to take you along with me on my journey back to the classroom. ❤️‍🔥

There are so many beautiful perks and benefits of attending @getyourteachon but nothing surpasses the friendships. Getting to catch up with friends (some that started 10 years ago) to talk shop, education, and LAUGH together is such a gift. There’s nothing better than being around people that “get it.”

Very thankful for a week of PD. This has been a crescendo moment for me (I’ll share more in my next post later today) to give everything I have to educators that can then go and pour into students. The ripple effect sends chills when I pause to think about it.

Thank you to all the 6k teachers that came together this week to learn from one another. Such a special time!!

As we finish day 2 of sessions I’m left feeling

As we finish day 2 of sessions I’m left feeling so inspired by all of the amazing educators that have dedicated so much time and energy into making @getyourteachon magical for the attendees. From the Magic Squad (who literally feel like Fairy Godmothers who help you with anything and everything you need), the tech staff, leadership team, and my fellow presenters, and more.

Today I sat in @headoverheelsforteaching session for 2nd grade about having collaborative conversations in your class and I couldn’t help but tear up thinking about all the teachers in the room that she was pouring into. I was right there with them, taking pics of every slide and writing down as many notes as I could. That entire room got to benefit from all of her years of experience and knowledge in creating a classroom community that can communicate effectively about academic content.

I think my favorite part of the day was dinner with @rebekahpoeteaching @itssimplyelementary and @daysinkinder talking through our sessions, interrupting one another to ask questions… getting our own personal PD learning from one another. Such a gift.

Second favorite part of the day was the video clip of @teaching3rdwithmrg shown above. 🗒️✏️🦸‍♂️
